Scholar/Practitioner: Environmental Communication and Marine Conservation.

About

I am an ocean conservation professional and scholar. My career so far includes positions in marine mammal care and training, environmental communication, and nonprofit organization management. I hold a Master of Professional Science in Marine Conservation and a Master of Public Administration from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and am currently a Ph.D. candidate in interdisciplinary Environmental Science and Policy at the University of Miami’s Rosenstiel School.

My research interests are at the intersection of ocean science and society with emphases on environmental communication, decision making processes, and political ecology. Topical areas of expertise include wildlife conservation and policy, marine protected areas, and community engagement for climate and environmental justice. Currently, I am researching environmental media associated with the conservation and management of endangered North Atlantic right whales.
